recipe: Greek yogurt dip with fruit

I found this recipe while browsing Pinterest last week and thought it sounded like a perfect alternative to the typical chocolate covered strawberries consumed during the month of February. I mean I love chocolate covered strawberries but this dessert can carry over into the warmer months and still feel a little indulgent.

My plan was to make these for my Galentine's Day celebration last week since everything else on the menu was super heavy. Unfortunately, I completely forgot to buy slivered almonds while I was at the store and didn't realize this until I was in the midst of preparing dinner. Needless to say, I had to improvise. Instead of filling the middle of the strawberry with the yogurt mixture, I decided to add a pinch of cinnamon and make it into a dip. And let me just say, it turned out perfectly!

Since the dip turned out so well, I thought I could cut up some more strawberries and turn this into a snack throughout the week. I modified the original recipe and used about 4 oz. of vanilla Greek yogurt and 4 oz. of plain Greek yogurt to keep the sugar content low. Plus, the banana adds sweetness to the dip already!

Mash the banana up with a fork and add in the yogurt. You can add a bit of cinnamon at this point if you would like. Then cut up some of your favorite fruit and enjoy!
