my autumn outfit

06 October 2014

Just a quick outfit post to start off the week! Wishing it was actually cool enough in Texas to wear my riding boots everyday... a girl can dream, right?

I bought this skirt back in the spring but pairing it with a navy cotton v-neck and some brown riding boots (or loafers) makes for a pretty perfect early fall outfit. I was gifted this beautiful gold monogrammed shield necklace. I love it. It's the perfect everyday necklace and looks great layered with pearls.

Happy Monday! What are your favorite looks for fall?

links i love

10 September 2014

I already feel like this month is flying by! This past week has been filled with working, studying, and obsessing over all of the amazing NYFW pics on Instagram. Currently coveting this scalloped handbag from the kate spade presentation and counting down the days until spring (too soon?!) To be completely honest, I kind of like spring more than fall. Maybe if I lived in a state where the weather was more typical, I'd have a different opinion. Assuming that the weather cooperates, I am actually looking forward to trading my sandals for loafers + boots this year.

Anyway, on to today's post! These are possibly one of my favorite weekly blog posts. I always look forward to finding interesting links or articles other blogs post. Here are some lovely links I just had to share!

Jenna Lyons dishes about beauty in this interview. I seriously can't get enough of her!

my fall reading list

04 September 2014

With fall officially on the horizon, I thought I'd put together a list of books I would like to read this season. Normally September is accompanied with a long list of books for class, but seeing as I don't have classes this semester, I am taking full advantage and reading books solely because I want to (yay!)

here are my picks for fall:

Mrs. Hemingway // I read The Paris Wife a couple of summers ago so I couldn't resist adding this one to the list. A peak into my favorite authors romantic life? Yes, Please!

The Other Typist // Calling all Gatsby lovers (that's me)! This one has been on my "want to read" list since reading this post by PKP.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince // Of course HP had to make the list! I read books 1-4 in the spring and I'm currently on book number 5 so, next up is the Half Blood Prince. I have had so many friends either re-reading the HP series or reading it for the first time, which I love because it's always a topic of discussion.

The Opposite of Loneliness // To be completely honest, I started reading this book during the summer - however, a trip to the book store led to a purchase of Gone Girl which led to every spare moment for the next three days being completely devoted to finding out the fate of Nick Dunne (if you haven't read it, I highly recommend before the movie comes out). Anyway, I absolutely loved the essays I've read so far. The introduction is truly touching. Marina is a wonderfully talented writer and I can't wait to divulge in the rest of her essays this fall.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?  // I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't read this book... BUT I'm excited to finally read it! I mean who doesn't love Mindy?

What books are you reading this fall? I would love to hear your suggestions!
